MEET OUR NEXT INCREDIBLE CREATIVE![]()
It was a true honour to sit down with Kim Parker, sculptor and writer based in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal. A self-made creative entrepreneur, Kim has transformed her passion into a meaningful and sustainable career — a journey defined by vision, perseverance, and belief in her craft. In this conversation, she shares insights into her creative process, sources of inspiration, the art of building a business, and the importance of impact and legacy.
One of the most powerful moments for me was her advice to her younger self: “If you believe it, you can do it. Your mind dictates your limits. Do not limit yourself.”![]()

When asked what success means to her today, Kim reflected that true success lies in being able to support others — emotionally, physically, or financially. That our greatest sense of worth comes not from the “white picket fence,” but from connection and giving.
If you’re a creative entrepreneur — or aspiring to be one — this story is for you.

- How did you overcome a major creative block?
I took a break, went for a walk, ride, cycle, and focused on something else. When I came back the process reinvented itself. Funny enough, my greatest literary inspirations came to me in the middle of the night, one sentence at a time.
- Where do you find your biggest inspiration?
Through the trials and triumphs of the people around me, especially those who help and were helped by the charity, The Old Legs Tour, raising funding for Zim pensioners medical costs. The plight of Zimbabwe is one that is close to my heart and makes me want to melt in desperation. Undeserved suffering and shame at the hands of tyrants, it is the realization that we could all be in the same predicament in the blink of an eye. So help whom you can with what you have available.
- Which project are you most proud of and why?
My main book, “Pedaling for Perspective”, once I had started the story came out like a punctured tyre, the rapid expulsion of words couldn’t be contained.
My horse head clay sculpture was also quite an accomplishment, much like the book it formed itself under my amateur hands, taking form and perfecting itself in its uniqueness, devoid of prior experience or inspiration from any images.
- How would you like to be remembered?
Great question, I would like to be remembered as someone of integrity who never quit. Who forged ahead on a few different trajectories led by passion and grit. We don’t have to know the way; we create the way through daily gradual decisions
- What does success mean to you now?
Success is being able to support others in any way that is needed, be it physical, emotional, financial. The white picket fence is a lie, in the end we get our worth from connection and our deepest sense of accomplishment comes from giving, whether emotionally or physically.
